IMO what you have is perfect not too much clutter and not too many family pics

Personally I lean more modern stylistically with liking the look of empty pots or vases, but I would also add more books, and some plants/greenery. I also think it would look nice if you painted behind the tv a darker color. It might make the tv look a little more built in and cohesive.

It looks good now and I would not be surprised if as time goes by you may find other irresistible things to put on the shelves.

Just adding... for me, I love books, and would have some books there - but if books aren't important to you, they're not needed there. Keep it a place of muted personal expression.

I think I would paint the white section behind the tv the same color as the shelves and trim on the unit. Can't tell if it is black or dark brown.
