I have no idea about reflective insulation in an attic. I have solar panels but they just heat my pool what is the plan for yours?

Im getting quotes for a roof system to replace my elelectric bill. Two companies quoted for just the roof system, but one suggested a combo roof and attic reflective insulation. i was just wondering if anyone had done the latter..

The reflective roof coating will help some (reducing heat gain) but not as much as more panels. If you need the capacity of the larger number of panels, then you need the larger number of panels.

I'm curious if you could provide some more details, like your location city, what you pay for electric per KWH, your average electric bill and what you were quoted for just the solar panels options.

Also if one of these was the Tesla roof option?

I did cost comparisons some time ago and it just wasn't worth it at the time for what I was paying for electric service then. Just curious as I am around 10 cents a KWH and still doubt it would be worth it for my area.

That is good info as to price for electric in your area. We are looking at the Tesla system to replace what we have and where we live electric is expensive .

I am not understanding this proposal.

You provide the number of solar roof panels based on a kilowatt usage (and what can fit) you are expecting to gain for your sun location.

You provide a radiant barrier inside the attic space to reflect and lower some heat gain. You do not capture any useable wattage from this radiant barrier.

Two different systems accomplishing two different functions.
