I do not like gallery walls but I would just paint that wall a different color that works with maybe some art work you own I aslo would not be filling every little windowsill with stuff . Could you maybe post some pics of the whole space and of the whole staircase too.

you already have enough going one with the gold statue. I would be hanging a new light fixture and either swag or move the box to the center to take up that volume.

not saying its perfect, but you need volume, this is just to display the value. most "modern fixtures are too spindle-E and I am so over every house having a sputnik fixture because its "modern" lol.

A big woven wall hanging here would lend some warm texture to the space. The citizenry has some nice ones or else these are gorgeous if you can afford them:

Etsy has a number of more affordable textile artists to choose from. I suggest, go big and go with something that will always make you smile.

You could add some color to the area.

You could potentially paint that area and accent color or add wallpaper, but nothing is needed. You could also choose to do a nice statement chandelier in that area as well. See our designs below for more ideas.
