The wood looks fine to me. Now the finished hair is pretty gross, and I would sure make him fix that.

Nothing wrong. The cut of the wood is to blame not the finish. I see the light grayish tone on some of the planks. Totally normal for the CUT you have.

You appear to have mixed cuts...and possibly mixed species? Are these floors new...freshly laid and finished or are they a floor that came with the house?

What was the colour stain? And you said something about a single plank was peeling that needed a fix?

Hi SJ, my contractor did one coat of Semi gloss Bona HD traffic although we ONLY talked about the satin finish. I am not happy with it, can he cover with one coat of Satin and will that fix the shiny ness problem? Or does he have to somehow micro fiber sand it off?

What duraseal stain is this?

Julia I'm having the same issue and it's not just the grain of the wood. There is something on the wood floor and I am not sure what it is, it's coming off for the most part. I'm using magic eraser, Murphy's and elbow grease, although some of it isn't going to come out unless it's sanded out. My guess is the previous tenants had kids and carpet and I would hate to see what the carpet looked like when it was pulled up.

Never, ever use Murphy's anything, you will sure as s**t ttrash that floor and never be able to refinish. That snake oil is pure evil.

I agree, please do not use Murphys on your floors.
