Thermador built in coffee maker cabinet depth

Hi all,

I’m redoing my kitchen and splurging on a built in coffee maker (you can’t talk me out of it). The problem I have is with cabinet depth, which is making getting a Miele unit difficult. I’m looking at the Thermador and wondering if anyone can speak from experience.

My question is, does the transformer need to be installed directly behind this unit or can it be installed slightly above so that I can put this in a shallower (around 18 inches) cabinet?

I am a cabinet maker and had the same question.

I was assured by a Thermador rep that, yes, you can put the transformer above or below as long as the cable from the transformer to the back of the coffee maker is long enough. is long enough.

You still do need to be sure it is in a vented area as it does get quite warm.

My customer paid over $8K for their machine.

And it makes one cup at a time. I don't get it.
