We are keeping the tile in the kitchen, there is no backsplash in the kitchen we are just painting for now. The only floors we are planning to change is to take the carpet out in the family room and hallway and do wood look LVP or hardwood. We do plan to do a backsplash, new counter and new stove in the next 2-5 years

We want to paint first so that we don’t have to worry about brand new wood floors getting wrecked from paint/contractors!

Not a fan of carpet but the light carpet color you have works well with the stone so you might consider that neutral color for the wall and a darker color for your flooring.

We used SW Accessible Beige @ 50%...lovely color.

It could help to find a palette that includes fireplace's stone colors, and use palette's colors for walls.

Not merely to select paint color, but for entire interior; one color could work as your sofa, another for rug, and another as a dominant color in art, tile backsplash. These 12 complement each other and overall create a harmonious atmosphere.

Thank you everyone for the ideas! I’m going to pull colors out of my kitchen rug that I love and use that for a color palate. Cream beige for all of the open floor great room walls and a blue/green/grey tone for the kitchen! The hardest part is finding a beige that doesn’t look yellow on the walls.

Hold your horses!! You have a Jenn Air cook top with down draft. There are not very many options to replace one of those. This may precipitate a kitchen remodel to move your cooktop out of the island. (A quick search showed there are several in the 2K+ range, free standing ranges not many options)

I would still look into what is necessary to do the kitchen upgrades as that amount of work on old cabinets may not be cost effective. I would plan all of this out now with a designer because all changes impact each other.

Yes we defiantly have researched down draft stoves and we will need to replace the counter top when we get a new stove. My husband is an engineer and is knowledgeable about measuring properly and mechanics- we will be getting a gas stove with down draft built in $5k range or we will be getting one of those down draft things you put in the counter and it raises when you’re cooking and retracts when you’re not. This is probably 2 years away. We are still deciding if we want to replace the cabinets, it depends where we are at financially I’m 2 years I suppose and if we want more babies ha ha :)

The Jen air also surprisingly works amazing another reason to keep it for a bit!! Works better than my brand new whirlpool we had in our old house!!

Update on paint colors. We went with cadet for the kitchen and accessible beige for the rest of the walls and are very happy!
