Interesting. Do you have a photo of what you're thinking of doing? Are you saying centered in the door panels? Or centered on the vertical rail?

Here’s what I did.

Picture the trash pull out like a drawer not cupboard and plan handle accordingly. Our cupboard handles are vertical and our drawer handles are horizontal

I will link the article that made me deside I like having the handles centred on the door/drawer front panel (option 1 from the linked article). However, I am thinking of treating the trash pull-out (and panel DW) handle placement differently and having those centred on the top rail (horizontal rail.)

To phrase my question differently: If I am sure I want to put the handles centred on the panel, do I have to follow suit with the trash pullout cabinet and DW handle (panel ready DW). Or, can I change the handle placement for both the trash and DW and keep the drawers with the handle centred on the panel (not centred on the top rail). Did anyone else change where they placed the handle for their trash pull-out from where they placed them for the drawers?

Thank you barncatz! Looks like in the thread you linked, most liked the look/functionality of putting the handle on the cabinet frame versus panel.

My handles on my Shaker cabinet drawers are centered horizontally on the panel while my handles on my trash pullout and sink cabinet are centered horizontally on the top rail. My upper cabinet handles are placed vertically on the stiles in the traditional location. In my opinion, and others concur, it looks quite nice.

Ontariomom, I hope this is helpful. The lower cabinet pulls are Top Knobs Shrewsbury D 7.5 inch cabinet pulls in brushed nickel. The upper pulls will be 5 1/6 inches, installed vertically on the stiles.

This is definitely helpful and has given me peace of mind that I will like a similar look for the handles. Beautiful kitchen. Looks like you are almost done! Enjoy.

We are refinishing our shaker cabinets in a small lower level kitchen area. We'll be leaving the cabinet handles under the sink where they were (vertical placement), but we're adding this edge pull handle to the right side (garbage pull out), on the top edge of the door:
