light switch - ground wire

hello - i am attempting to replace a light swtich with a Lutron 3 way dimmer. the instructions advise to connect the ground wire to the green wire attached to the new device. see pic 1. normally, there is a dedicated ground wire that i can easily connect this dimmer green wire to. however, the switch im replacing is part of a multi switch box, and the copper wire that attaches to the existing / old swtich im looking to replace wraps around the cord and connects to the other switches (See pic 2). That is, it is not a single grounding wire that i could easily connect to the Lutron green wire. should i cut the copper wire so it has a clear end and then attach it using the nut to the green wire of the Lutron, in essence creating a daisy chain that would go onto connect to the other switches? I was not sure if by cutting the grounding wire, i would create a new problem. or something else?
