We needed to replace the couch, but did not want to replace the chair and loveseat. Hence the light couch. We ordered from Arizona leather.

G - I know the lighter color is the newer one, but do you feel drawn to one more than the other now that you have both colors in the same room? Do you wish you could have a room full of the lighter one or do you like both colors equally?

We had two light colored leather sofas. Looked fantastic in the room, but our dogs ended up destroying them. The sofas pre-dated the dogs in our case.

I think I like that they do not all match. I do not think all light would look as good in our room. as all dark. The walls and floor are light. I was just happy to find a similar style that matched the dark ones.

swampthing - Do you buy any chance have a picture of yours? I'm actually thinking about getting a leather sofa, because of my dogs. They're not big and don't scratch on the furniture, but they are shedders, so my thinking is a leather sofa would be better as far as cleaning up the dog hair. It seems to get imbedded in the fabric on my current sofa.

I have had 3 dogs, I will never go back to upholstery, leather is so much easier to keep clean. Go for a mid to higher grade leather, avoid inexpensive bonded leather.

Sorry, no pictures since we don't have them anymore. The issue was dirt from the garden getting ground into the scratches (our female scratches before napping) and we couldn't scrub it out. The dirt would not have been visible on a darker sofa. Had it professionally cleaned and restained but it still looked lousy.

We have 50 pound labradoodles, so shedding isn't an issue with our new (brown) upholstered sofas. They are holding up so much better!

I have cream colored leather sofas (Damacio). Was worried about my boxer's nails, as we allow her on the furniture with us. It's never been a problem, though.

Funny how leather works better for one dog owner and fabric works better for another.

Leather: what stains it? Not so much the dogs; more the human head (oil), back (sweat) and hands. Go for it. My leather sofa is a wee bit lighter than Revere Pewter. Holding up for over 7 years.

It helps to use leather conditioner and cleaner every so often. Keeps it really supple inside with lack of humidity.

I would disagree on the doges staining leather. I had a miniature dachshund who took to sleeping on one side of the couch while we were at work. It for sure left a white haze that conditioner does not remove. It's not scratched or marred from her nails...just her body oils....
