I disagree you should move the canopy or lose it. It’s a child’s room, she obviously uses it, and it looks adorable. Seems like it is ”working” there. :)

I wouldn’t base the window treatments around it, any would look fine, panels or shade.

IMO there is nothing in the furniture that says childs room and if she is small enought to play with those items I am betting the color scheme is not hers How old is she? I have done 100s of kids rooms and not one time was gray a fave color so I need more info

@janmoyer getting rid of it is not an option. I suggested over the bed but she absolutely didn’t want that. She wanted a separate tent like space she could sit in and read. That was the only other spot it would fit.

What a fun bedroom! Def keep the canopy in that cozy corner! It would look cool with a darker paint - does it get enough light? can you do a mid tone charcoal or almost black? I know it's a bold move for some...but fortune favors the bold! art always pops off dark colors. Curtains and romans are too fussy for this room - keep it young and fun with a simple roller shade. I just screenshotted this image last night as inspiration for my bedroom since we have a gray bed, but it could work for your daughter's room too. The pinks are on the rusty side, and there is texture on the bed, windows and ceiling. Plus wood tones to warm it up. This is by Amber Interiors.

For your room, I think I'd do a woven roman shade, and get a large rug. I think the wall color is pretty as is. Or I like the idea of a dark cozy room like suggested above. Maybe a plant in the corner. You could do plug-in sconces instead of lamps on the nightstands; that would free up horizontal space and add something to the wall.

Pick rug and bedding before paint color and add pops of gold.

Sugguest a soft neutral shade for walls and consider painting the ceiling grey and adding a gold chandelier.

Maybe a blush pink color or a wallpaper accent for the walls? And yes, as others have suggested, bring in pink accessories like throws and pillows. Use a mix of patterns to liven it up.

Thank you all for your suggestions!! So many great ideas 🙏 I should have clarified my daughter is a tween she is ten almost 11. So while she still likes having stuffies I need the room to be sophisticated enough to last through her teens. She had a small single bed in our old house and now has space for this luxurious queen and it was her choice. She picked the style, colour and fabric. We went through the RH teen bedrooms and she showed me what she liked. I haven’t put any decorative stuff on the walls yet but I have a pair of gold hanging mirrors for above the night stand. And gold frames in different sizes for the gallery wall. I am changing her light fixture as well which will be a gold finish so the accents will all come but didn’t want to put anything up until we painted.

@Maureen I love that geometric rug. I bought one grey and white geometric rug and returned it cause the white was too yellow. It’s hard to tell online with whites.

@margaretcarollinteriors the rugs are beautiful but the garden one doesn’t seem to go with the soft colour scheme of grey, gold, white and rose gold. Your idea of charcoal is interesting. That would be adding a fifth colour to the palette. Would it be overpowering? There’s not a ton of exposed wall there because of the window and door so that could work.

But wouldn’t I have to paint the whole room the same colour other than the accent headboard wall that may have a wallpaper or colour? I feel the charcoal would be too dark for the whole room

JMHO....... A lot of brain surgery for something that will be yet again outgrown in three or four years max. It is the nature of growing up. The tent will be declared " fpr babies!!" before the year is out.

Let her design the headboard wall, and pick a paint color. Done. It will be covered in posters before you know it.
