Raised ranch, raised bungalow, backsplit, Those are the most common. I found using a combo of the terms helped find similar to your home. Back split raised bungalow. Painting the gable the same color as the house would reduce the sense of heaviness, as would beefing up your column. The color the brick is nice. Many Houzzers want to paint their red brick that color. I'm not sure the tan siding is the best color. I'd paint the siding an off-white to match the brick and remove the shutters.

If you're looking for some easy DIY fixes, I'd say landscaping, a post wrap, a full-glass storm door, and new light fixtures.

It’s a cute enough little house. As noted above the front column is too skinny visually for the mass it is supporting. A lighter color on the gable would help tremendously. Otherwise invest in a landscaping plan that you can then implement yourself.

Whatever colors you go with, landscaping your gardens will go a long way with curb appeal! When I moved into my house almost 7 years ago, it had zero curb appeal. We took care of that by having our house professionally painted and I hired a guy who jump started the gardens and plants. My hubby has made the gardens slightly bigger over the years and we have added lots of roses and other flowers along with Hostas, which I really love! We have gotten rave compliments over the years from friends and neighbors.
