I would go with SS since there is no price difference. Also, unless those cabinets are more worn than they appear from your pictures, there doesn't look like there is anything wrong with them and they're really not out of style. Maybe you can pass by the all white trend and leave them alone. I can't see your floors. If you paint the cabinets white is that going to work with the floors? No matter what you decide to do, you do need a new light fixture.

If there is no difference in price, base it on your love of stainless steel. Our kitchen is full of SS appliances as was our previous kitchen. The constant fingerprints, drips and spills-I never want SS again. It is a lot of work to keep it looking pristine. As long as you are okay with that-and your kitchen looks very nice based on your pictures-go for it. Because the w/d is behind a door, your guests most likely won't ever pay attention to them, so if you chose white or bisque-it is to please you, as it should be.

Not a silly question. I agree with stainless based on the configuration of the space. All our appliances are ss, but I did go with white for our w/d. However, they're in a separate laundry room. Stainless will be a good fit in your case.

FWIW, I probably spent more time cleaning the white appliances we had in our previous home.

White is my choice, to keep the space bright.

It's not that white wouldn't work, but ss seems a better choice since the w/d are literally right there with the other appliances. Also, you mentioned the sliding door staying open...
