Carrier Infinity controller fan stuck on

We have a Carrier Infinity heat pump, installed in 2013. We have the wifi controller. Recently I updated the comfort profiles such that the fan would always run on low on the Home profile. That seemed to work fine. The fan would run during the Home profile time frame as expected. I now want to go back to having the fan run in auto mode. As such, I updated the comfort profiles such that all have the fan set to Auto. Unfortunately, the fan still runs continuously.

To be honest, I cannot say with certainty that the fan wasn't running continuously during at least some of the profiles prior to my monkeying around with the controller. I can say that the fan setting had been Auto prior to my changing it to On and it is now back to Auto and is running continuously.

I’ve tried setting the fan to On (in the profile), saving, then setting it back to Auto and saving to see if that has any effect. It did not. I’ve also tried powering down the whole system and powering back on and that didn’t help. I’ve also set the Mode to Off (ie I turned the system off at the controller) and turned it back on but thatndidnt help either.

Does anyone have any ideas why our system is behaving this way?

I found this in the owner's manual for the Carrier SYSTXCCITC01---B Infinity controller. It seems you can permanently set the fan speed for any active Comfort Profile. Take a look at this and see if this applies to the controller you have.

Adjust Fan Speed

The Features function of Infinity System Control allows you to adjust the fan speed

during continuous fan operation.
- To adjust the fan speed, enter the Main Screen by touching anywhere on the Control.
- Touch FEATURES on the top left of the screen.
- A drop down menu will appear. Touch FAN selection.
- Use the Up (↑) and Down (↓) buttons to set the fan to AUTO, LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH, then touch SAVE. This will permanently change the fan setting in the active Comfort Profile. If the current activity is Manual, it will only change the current fan speed.

Thanks! That helped me find the problem. Apparently I had set operation to Manual and Hold with only the fan turned on and then forgot about it. We’ve had some mild weather recently and we wanted to open the windows and get some air circulation I could see the big Manual indicator on the Features menu, but it just did not register. I set it back to run via the program and, like magic, the fan is off when it is supposed to be off.

I am glad I was able to help. Next year you will have to figure out how to turn off the daylight savings time feature. I will have to figure that out for my Carrier thermostats!
