Truly stumped! Please HELP

We got new windows installed and they are bronze. Love them but hate my shutters with them. Not sure if house would look good without. Or whether I should do a simpler shutter I. Different color. And what that color would be. Also changing out interior shutters. For maybe something different or a larger 4.5 inch shutter. Please help all opinions welcome.

Take the shutters down. I think the dark windows would look more dramatic with out them. Or paint them black.

Remove the shutters and that large bush that is blocking the view of your focal point porch and entry.

    white shutters

Thank your for all the comments. I can’t visualize what a creamy white would look like. Maybe matching the trim color.?The shutter are currently soft black. I don’t know if the Louvered ones look good or if they should just be board and batten.

    Hi!

I can't understand the problem. What I see in the picture looks very harmonious to me. I wouldn't change a thing!

I agree, looks great as is. But I do agree with somone above that you should remove the bush that blocks the view of the front door.

Okay maybe just had a little freak out because the look so different with white and the shutter color looks off to me next to the bronze window. The camellia bush has gotten very large. It’s as you come up the walk way. Can’t afford new door. So I am planning on putting glass in the inserts and painting the door the color of the shutters to give it a
    More cohesive look.

Yes, white or light shutters seem appropriate. Perhaps details on this house will inspire you.

That would also look very nice!

Paint them black or have them remade in a natural cedar color wood. I am thankful to see appropriately sized shutters, but the off black and black are not working so well.

    I like them as is!

Thank you for all the feedback CA I priced shutters today. Six sets of board and batten I was shocked at price. $4400 that was installed but still mind blowing. They look better in picture then in real life. I am goi g to try and paint part of one shutter in a couple of shades darker then house color which in real life is a grey beige. Hope this works. Then will have them removed and professionally painted. Hope I am doing the right thing.

You can order shutters at Lowes or HD for a more budget friendly number.

Thank you so much for removing the shutters. That was my first plan. I thought it might look a little bare. Not as charming. And thank you for the lowes suggestion Beverly. Do you think it looks to bare?

Are there screens up? do you use them? I think the tint of the window (or screen) is concealing even the lites in your windows. It dawned on me at one point that, with a/c, I never open the windows so why did I need screens? The light was better without them.

What do you think of evergreen fog or pewter green and just repainting what I have. Could paint front door the same color. Ugh I hate dealing with exterior colors. The house color I chose took me a month.

I like it also without shutters. I don't think the bush should go, maybe a bit of trim.

N Johnson yes the screens are up. The problem is we open windows a lot and in the south bugs will definitely come in.I was thinking g one of these colors. My husband thinks house looks bare without shitters

(Funny typo — maybe it’s a Freudian slip?!) Actually, if you don’t like the cream mock-up, I think it’d look better with a dark green to pick up on your lovely plantings below. Keeneland or Charleston Green would be very Southern as well.

The shutters really do conflict with the subtle , simple, elegant lines of your home….i would remove them and live with it little while…even your husband may realize that having them is cluttering the facade..

I like it better with shutters.

If keeping them is a must…paint them to match the trim…so they blend in better

    It looks modern without shutters.

Okay yes maybe Freudian slip or person typing without glasses. Thank you for all your responses.

I like it with the shutters but the white trim around the window looks off to me.

I would look for shutter color closer to the cedar shake you have at the top, not too much darker than that. Entryway door could be black to balance with windows, plus you have the black lightpost and porch light that ties in. I'm conflicted by the white sidelight trim of entryway door now that you have the dark windows, perhaps that whole area of entryway should be same color as door. Lovely home with pretty landscaping!

How about just painting the trim around the windows the color of the shutters? I think that would help. You have a lovely home!

The landscaping is old…overgrown and over-pruned…a new plan there will make a big difference in your curb-appeal…

Thank you all for in put. Yes we put landscaping in front ten years ago it needs to be freshened up. I have been side tracked by shingles which are on my face so haven’t done much. 🙁. But as soon as I am feeling better I am going to get samples of black fox and urbane bronze. Not sure that it wont look like a black hole but I will at least sample. And yes am wondering about the trim myself. Thanks to all of you.

So sorry for your pain — get better soon!

I also vote for no shutters- it’s a more modern farmhouse look without them. Spend your time and money on trimming the tree near the door. Enjoy your ne windows

Thank you for the well wishes. I am so bored from staying home that I am now mixing my own paint with colorant. I like the no shutters but my husband hates that look. The house when we bought it was a compromise on the exterior. I like what he would call cold modern. 🤔
