Hi Shane. Thanks for posting multiple pics of your space. Can you maybe stand back and get some wider views? A floor plan to include adjoining spaces is also helpful. Most important, what do you like? Your kitchen is very traditional and vanilla. Will you look around a bit online and post some pics of kitchens that wow you?

Here are some additional pictures. We like something modern/contemporary, but nothing too out there. We are OK with the kitchen looking vanilla as we want to resell in a few years. The whole house has a grey and white theme, we liked to keep the kitchen similar.

What is your timeline because if you plan to sell in a *few* years, it probably makes no sense to do a gut remodel of your kitchen.

It is going to be more than you anticipate and take longer than you think it will take. By the time you have planned it; do your due diligence; hired someone and waited for what you have ordered with current suppy chains it will be more than a year - and you will have the aggravation and disruption of a kitchen remodel with limited years to enjoy it.

Also kitchen remodels are not a great return on investment and you will not increase the purchase price of your home by the amount you spend on your remodel. You would be better off saving the money and putting it towards the purchase of your next home.

It’s worse then it looks ( cabinets and counters are in terrible condition), a remodel will do a great deal. Also, I already got general quotes and timelines (all working 4 months, product and project) that I am happy with, just need to determine color and styles.

White cabinets are always classic, but a good medium toned wood without peach, orange or red undertones also looks nice. Since it looks like you almost have a separate wall you could create a pantry or bar/coffee bar area. If you're going to resell, classic finishes usually sell best. IMHO you cant go wrong with white countertop and white backsplash.

You could do white cabinets with a gray countertop. Certainly you’ll want a hood vent and some uppers on the wall with the open shelves and spices on the counter? I would probably make the peninsula one level. Counter-depth fridge to save space?

IMO you need to share the new layout and the to scale floor plan and the cabinets style . Who designed this new space ? A cabinets sales person is not who should be doing that. What is your budget ?IMO start by getting a counter depth frisge and I hope the new plan has a lot more closed storage.

White cabinets with a grey or grey/white countertop would keep you in your color scheme and the light color would be good in your smaller size kitchen. In addition to a counter depth fridge a slide in range would be a better depth for the space you have. A one level peninsula would open up the kitchen to the other spaces which would help it look a little bigger. Adding upper cabinets to the wall with the microwave would give you more storage and take advantage of a lot of empty space. If your existing cabinet bases are in good shape in their interiors, then refacing what you have with new doors could be a good cost saving solution.

Sorry, but when I read your question I thought to myself that the last thing someone should be planning cabinets and counters around is the current paint color. There are a zillion different colors of paint vs limited choices for cabinetry and counters.
