Do you have open outdoor space? Strawberries are fully hardy perennials. They need to be out in fresh air and sunshine. They will not grow at all well indoors and they would be unhappy on a porch under a roof.

No worries, Floral. Now I have a HOUSE, not an apartment balcony. I have a front and side porch on which to set the pot(s) of strawberries. Front is southern exposure, side is eastern. No roof over most of porches, just an eave.

Even an eave will keep rain off them. They’d really be happier out in the open where rain and air movement can keep the leaves fresh and help deter bugs.
