Light over outdoor shower at Beach House

Getting new shingles/soffits/etc. on our beach house, so now is the time to replace the light fixture.
- If I go with an "open" one like a barn light, do they get all dirty/buggy?
- Better to go with a "closed" one?
- Is glass okay?
- Is metal not beachy enough?
