I'm a bit leary of CLR and its ingredients, as far as using it in our washing machine goes. I use Lemi-Shine for the FL and our DW. Main (only?) ingredient is citric acid. I use it around the faucet spouts for removing limescale buildup, as well as on the water dispenser area on our referigerator. It's the green LemiShine "can" labeled as a dishwasher booster.

ETA --- I usually put 1/2 cup to a full cop of LemiShine into the washing machine, depending on my mood. LOL

I like to use Afresh product for washers

Citric acid works best for that you can buy a bottle in the canning section at the store or buy in a bigger bag on Amazon i use it when i run a cleaning cycle on my washer and dishwasher

Sounds like citric acid is the preferred method. Luckily, I have a large bag of it I use for derusting tools so I'll give it a try. Thanks all.
