Bedroom Design Suggestions Needed

I have a small bedroom and I’m struggling to find a cohesive design. Please provide suggestions for how to spice it up!!

I really want to work around the art above my bed. I have dark hardwood floors and black metal accents (art, bed, mirror). I need to keep the large right wall empty because I set up my projector there. I’m thinking a rug and some fun pillows but really open to suggestions on color scheme and design styles to tie in the existing artwork! I also got this wall sconce (has not arrived) that I plan to put above my nightstand - and maybe get another for the other night stand for symmetry.

Love that art above your bed! You could make it a more prominent feature by color blocking around it. I used the color of your comforter, but a contrasting color may give the room the spice you’re seeking.

Do you own the property and can you paint? I was thinking that entire wall with the art would be nice in your green accent color. I know the bumpout on the ceiling is in the way but you can ignore it, or you can stop the paint at a line right across the wall at the bottom of the bumpout. You could also paint the bumpout green, or go even spicier with black!

The art would look much better scale wise over your dresser, closer for others to look at as well. it is currently too high on the wall and too small to really enjoy.

I would add a metal frame head board or paint and arch behind the bed. add an area rug to lighten up the floor..

first thing I'd do is find new nightstands. something like these

then get two sconces (or pendants) and a bold piece of art. get some stiffer pillows

you have a great wall to do something with. acccent it, or board and batten, or even a ledge to across

see how they did this one? Something like this would be perfect across that wall. if you can manage this vertical nickel-gap panel boards, great. (you could even do just the lower section)

paint it an accent color and try a wood shelf

get a rug. do some simple batten trim panels on that wall. paint an accent color. it's easy.

You can paint the walls any color you like, I like a dark forest green w/your bedding

copy everything they've done here. (but in products/colors you like. I love the pendants over the nightstands. move your mirror

small wood nightstands, bench at foot of bed, rugs, plants.

Love the suggestions to paint! I would have to check with my landlord since I don’t own the space. Here is a mock up of what it will look like with the sconces I ordered (they hav w it come in yet)

Start by moving the bed to the middle of the wall. Add two small night stands, and plug in wall sconces.

Put the floor mirror behind the bed...use it as a headboard.

Using the two hooks over the closet door and fishing line, hang those naughty nuns (I think I had the one on the far right in fourth grade).

you can screw in some simple eye hooks into the ceiling. upon removing (if you remove them) they are easy to spackle over and conceal. they're a very tiny hole.

ask him if you can paint one of the walls. (you can always paint it back white when you move. but if it looks good, can't see why he won't leave it. you'll only need one quartof paint for that wall. use Behr (it's cheaper) and get a color match of a green you like.

as for the rug, plenty of those to find You put the rug 1/3 under the bed. 1/3 at most, and let the rest be visible.

something w/texture like a jute or sisal, layered w/a hide would look nice against the dark floor

or, try the over dyed rug in nice green color (just search 'over dyed rug'. etsy has them too)

then, for the foot of the bed (or if no room, try the side of the wall or near the window)

    get yourself a bench,

    x ottomans

    or some poufs.

ask landlord if you can do a hanging light in the room. it's a 5 min job to change out the can and put in another light.

look at the pics I posted on how to do accessories. your room needs accessories. art over the bed needs to be larger than what you have

The art is bigger than it appears in the photo because I used a zoom out lens. How do we think that would look with the 2 emerald sconces?

Also note that it’s a very tiny room so I can’t center bed and fit 2 equal night stands (glass one is so beautiful I don’t want to give it up and the one on the left is strictly for storage purposes). And mirror is essential to get ready 🤩

the picture is too small and hung way too high. art should be hung at eye level.

the art should also be proportional to your bed

you need a wood nightstand (or even a white one like this could work. what you have now is a NO

get the mirror out of that corner and center your bed on the wall. flank it w/the nightstands and the sconces. see how much better this art looks?

you can even go a bit taller if you like

get a hanging mirror to go on one of the doors if you have no other place to put it

Thanks so much for all the suggestions Beth!! I really like your ideas. I do really love a centered, symmetrical bed/nightstands but where will I put my mirror? 🥹🥹 the width of the wall with the bed is 9 ft and I have a queen bed so if centered, there is no room for mirror and basically 0 space to walk around!! Working with a tight space has given me a lot of restrictions for decorating

try to center it as best you can. Cant you install a mirror on one of those doors? they have mirrors you can hang over the top, or use something like command strips to 'glue' them to the door. you could also attach a mirror w/very small screws and mirror holders.

the other option, put it on the far side of the bed and have no nightstand over there.
kind of like this, but lower. and only on one side.

Or perhaps you could do a mirror in another room? in the closet? the bathroom?

RL Relocation LLC’s visual of adding a metal headboard and lowering the art looks really good to my eye.
