I once went on a hosta garden picnic at a hosta lover's home. They had an infected hosta too! They just left it in the garden because they wanted to see how it would develop!

I met a lady who was helping out at a nursery and she invited me to her hosta garden for some very unusual hosta that she was dividing. She had lots of hosta and more than a handful had the virus. A major eewww, get away from me moment. I told her they were sick with HVX and to look it up and remove them. I did not take any home with me. I didn't go into her garden, just looked over the fence. I didn't want that virus to jump on me. Burning your clothes is a good idea.

The Judges should have known better and other entry owners should have known enough to object. I have been to 2 nurseries that had infected hosta in their stock and even after telling them they had a sick plant they did not remove them. I won't buy hosta from there but I do go looking every spring at their other stock.
