Use some blue painters tape and tape the size and shape of the art work on both walls then post a picture for opinions

although you paid for framing, could you have it redone in a smaller frame or leave it frameless? tou might take a loss on it, but it might be cheaper than expanding fireplace , rewiring etc

I need to see the art and you need to lower that TV and take a pic of the whole space .I can't see how you would make the FP bigger since the wall limits the size

@jk910 The artwork won’t fit currently above the fireplace and I would need to remodel the surround but I can still place tape on the general area and will try this.

@gtdj519 Its not the fame size, the actual artwork is very large and frame only adds a few inches. Also the artwork is an investment piece and too expensive to leave unframed. And thanks on my dog! She insists on being in every shot…lol

@Patricia. The blue tape may help as I won’t have the art for another month while it’s being framed. I will try to capture a larger pic of the space but it’s not much bigger than that. It’s a small den those are the only two walls. Lowering the tv would place it almost in the middle of the wall and the top of the tv would almost be shoulder level for someone in the room. Can you clarify your suggestion?

I'll take a step back! Why aren't you using your living room?

In our previous house we had a formal living room in the front and an open family room & kitchen in the back. If I had guests I did not want the TV to be part of the get together, so we placed the big TV in the formal living room with a large sectional and made that the "media room".

Could you do something similar? Do you need a TV in this space or could the painting go in that spot?

Well you're only giving us two options and over the FP is not an option even if you remodel........ so hang it over the dog bed.

Since you can't hang it currently over the fireplace, we might recommend trying on the TV wall. Perhaps use tape to measure out exactly where you would want it first before trying to hang it.
