Please no rose of sharon. they are all over my neighborhood and spread and are invasive.

you dont mention your location, hardiness zone but blue hibiscus is native to Australia and most houzzers are from north america. is there something a little closer to home to guarantee success and be beneficial to native wildlife, survive drought, etc?

6b, New Jersey. Rose of Sharon will be fine in this spot, invasiveness will not be a problem. They are everywhere in the pink and blue in this area, and I've never seen them looking to be causing any problem, from the outside in, really. Drought won't be an issue, some watering will be available. Let me know your opinion regarding my question if you can, thanks.

Rose of Sharon/Hibiscus syriacus is native to East Asia, NOT Australia! And like any plant with possible invasive characteristics, they are limited by location, with only 4 states listing them as invasive. And several cultivars are sterile as well.

There are several blue flowered varieties and some grow faster/taller than others. Do you know what you are trying to match?

I think @Stephanie is referring to Alyogyne huegelii, which goes by the common name of "Blue Hibicus" and is native to Australia, but it's also definitely NOT what @Greg Joseph is talking about, as GG pointed out. Yet another reason not to rely on common names!
