Electrical service for an under-construction garage

The framing contractor of my under-construction garage needs power for his tools. I have run the underground power lines already but haven't connected them at either end. I could run an extension cord, but that would probably be about 200 feet to avoid crossing my driveway. Or could I make a temporary connection to the breaker box which will go in the garage (maybe mount it on an external stand) and connect the house end to the breaker box there. The excavation and foundation work are already completed.

I'd use the underground cable to a temporary exterior panel, with two ground rods, to power gfci receptacles. Your electrician shouldn't have a problem doing this.

My electrician is unavailable. I assume the temporary exterior panel will need to be waterproof. Would that be suitable for reuse as my main panel?

Get your electrician to set up a temp service. Don't tackle something that is unfamiliar especially electricity.

Tell the framer to suck it up and bring a generator. We do on new home construction when power is not available for our pool builds.

a) I don't have an electrician b) my framer doesn't have a generator c) I'll just run a long extension cord. It's just for a chop saw.
