I hated mine also mainly because I wanted a drop down door, not a side opening one. Also, the metal plate inside that air flows through was not smooth.

A good basic dryer would be a Whirlpool model with the lint trap on the top of the cabinet rather than inside the front door.

What's the problem with your SQ dryer? We have a SQ dryer, not a DC5 but the partner to the SQ front loader, and it works great, no complaints. Like everything you have to learn what cycles to use etc.

The problem is the lint trap is an infuriatingly stupid and ineffective design.

Megamorph, please be more specific regarding the infuriating stupid design. I have an idea what you are referring to, but I need you to be specific. If it's what I think it is, there's a solution. But if it's something other than what I am thinging you are referencing, we still might be able to solve without purchasing a new dryer.
