Why are you having a tub spout in a shower?

@cpartist Mainly for being able to get the temperature right before turning on the showerhead. But it's good for filling buckets, as a spout for cleaning shaver/pouffes, and good for just a quick foot rinse without getting the showerhead involved.

Usually a hand spray is used in showers for the purposes you're thinking of for a tub spout.

When we visit family in Canada there is a tub spout in the shower and I like it. It is, in fact, sensible and handy. I also like a sprayer in the shower. One can have it all!

I am also wary that a protruding spigot spaced low would be a hazard…for your expressed needs ….the door would have to open near the lower spigot ….waiting for an accident to happen …as you enter…or even should you just slip on the wet floor

I must also add that when you ask for free advice you should at least be polite …not rude…to responders….

@btydrvn I appreciate the concern but I'll be adding a tub spout and nowhere in my original post did I ask about if I should have a tub spout or not.

I don’t think it matters where the drain is placed provided the floor pan is designed to slope in the direction needed.

I would consider the existing plumbing and what would be the simplest to plumb since a centre drain or offset really does not matter since both bases will be sloped properly to drain properly. I am also Canadian and I have had tub spouts in our showers for exactly the reason you say. I have since changed to hand held as I like rinsing off the shower walls when cleaning. Naysayers be gone.

You did not ask and hope not take offense. I would like to warn you about dark colors and water spots. A nightmare unless you prepared to be diligent re wiping and DRYING the floor after use. However if still want the black the marble look one will hide those spots better than the all black. I also would have an all in one shower head that is also a hand wand. Handy for all sorts of stuff. As well as tall or short people. As age or even have an accident the hand wand is a necessity. In addition female members or visitors do not like ceiling shower heads, if that is what planned. They get their hair wet when only want a quick shower and don’t get hair cleansed of soap well when want to wash it.

@husterd About the dark colors/water spots, that's a good point and something I've been considering for my vanity countertop as well because I'd really like a dark top. I don't have hard water (and in fact I may be getting a water softener as well since I have dry skin). Do you think even without hard water I'll have water spot issues?

Stay away from engineered stone and natural stones except the dark dense ones if you're concerned about hard water. Or get Corian and don't worry ever.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC I'll be getting Corian, the solid surface one though, not quartz. Does that resist water spots too? A question for the sales rep too as I'm going there today! Thanks.

Corian is easily maintained against hard water. Use some Countertop Magic and no spots ever.
