Gray is never really great with honey/orange oak. What's done is done ( alas ) .......stick to a white quartz. Plain. With an under mounted stainless sink. Ixnay the black : )

Options would widen considerably with a paint job on the cabinets, window trim. Remove the dated valance over window etc. At this point....a bit limited.

mauve walls warrant a change to an off white neutral...sorry if you just painted them . if she chose the black sink you might consider soapstone as long as you select the piece [not super veined] she likes strong details in other words ??? id encourage a look at dark hardware a stylish arc 'ed faucet in stainless.... see how she responds to soapstone she may not be aware of it...or basic jet black granite...then a white or creamy subway backsplash if the shoe fits...... otherwise as said the plain white or light counter approach. Moms are all different but putting a wee bit of drama in with a dark counter pick might pick up on her vision and continue w a different look for the space. under cab task lighting [ if possible ] is a good upgrade if you can do more things. I wouldnt worry about the tone of the floor [ it looks bronze-ish anyway] ......mats help as so many stylish ones now and the walls are more needing attention IMO......

Something simple with little-to-no pattern. The color she has now is good, but I'm sure she's ready for a change.

Now, changing the wall color probably would do wonders. :) Then she can do a fabulous tile backsplash in a nice color...

No black sink in that space . That flooring is busy so now somthing very plain for counters I garee at least rmove the vanace between the cabinets and can you post a pic of the whole kitchen. Remove the blinds and repaint the walls in a much different color probablt one from the floor.
