Pull sizes for kitchen

I am doing knobs on doors and pulls on drawers, but I am trying to figure out what size pulls to do. I am using Atlas Bradbury in brass they come in multiple sizes (3 3/4, 5, 6 1/4, 12), should I do the closest to 1/3 the size of the drawer for each? I all different size drawers so I'd be doing some of each I don't want it to look obvious I have too many.

Missing from your post is key info of the width of the drawers. In any case, it sounds like you know about the rule of thumb that the pulls should be approximately 1/3 the width of the drawers. Do different width pulls for different width drawers. If you made the pulls all the same width, then they would look too wide for the narrower drawers, and too puny for the wider drawers.

I don't want it to look obvious I have too many

I do not understand what that means.

It is very subjective, but 1/3 size rule is a good place to start. I used 3 different pull sizes for my drawers and knobs for the doors. My trash pull out has a larger pull than the 1/3 rule would suggest, because that is used all day long and you don't want a tiny pull on it. Choose what works for you and looks best to you.

I'm going to disagree with the above comment. I would use a single size for the pulls for all drawers. Without seeing what your cabinet layout looks like, 6" pulls are usually a good size for most drawers. If they are particularly wide, say more than 15", I'd go with 8" pulls.

There’s a lot of different size drawers, I’ve added pictures of the two walls that will have cabinets. There’s an island also but I can figure those out after some input, thank you!

I ended up just using 2 different size pulls in my kitchen. I used 6 5/16” handles on the 30” or bigger drawers and 5” handles on all the rest. I used the Amerock Revitalize pulls.

On the blue section the bigger handles are on the middle section and smaller on the outside drawers. The 33” drawers on the left of the stove are bigger and the 21” drawers on the right have the 5” handles. They don’t really stand out as being different sizes. Hope that helps you visualize it. Good luck!

I used 8", 9" and 12" in my kitchen. A 6" pull would have looked way undersized in my kitchen.

Personally, I also don't like double pulls on a drawer. To me they look very traditional and fussy.

    As I said, very subjective!

Not what you asked, but why is your hood 54" wide for a 36" wide cooktop? The hood should be 42" wide. You will spend a lot on such a large hood that is not needed.

I liked the looks of an oversized hood, I was fine with the cost for a athletic reasons.

Thanks for sharing that, I agree I don’t like the double pulls either and won’t be doing that. This inspo picture is helpful

IMO the style of the kitchen and the pulls needs to be shown here. I like pulls to be in proprtion to the cabinet size and I never like 2 pulls on a wide drawer This is a good inspo pic for what I am talking about . I use painters tape to figure out the proportion and also the direction to put the pulls . I also do not follow the "rule" about the size but that is where the style of the kitchen comes into play If the kitchen is still not installed do not order pulls until it is . If already installed show us the actual kitchen

@Nicki K, look at that, one Pro here loves "tiny" pulls and the other loves "oversized" pulls.

    Told you it was subjective!

Just look at lots of photos on Houzz for ideas and pick the size ratio that looks best to you.

@Kim H sorry to ask on here but...what refrigerator do you have? Thanks!

@vicbayside it's a Bosch fridge that we got 4 or so years ago. I was looking for one without all the stuff on the outside door.

Not to complicate things further, but would you consider different pulls that came in 9” lengths? I went crazy trying to figure all of this out last year. I ended up with 9” pulls on 30-36” drawers and upper doors, knobs on lower cabinet doors and 5 1/2 inch pulls on smaller drawers. I’ve been living with them for a year and it all seems to work. Good luck!
