Paint teint in a dark room

I am asking your advice. We plan to paint a room who has indirect light. It has 3 openings for doors and a small window with indirect light. I would like to paint it white, but my husband doesn't agree. He want a contrast paint, even a darker paint. What do you suggest? Thank you.

It looks like the ceiling also needs paint. Paint it a nice bright white, and then see how you feel about the walls being darker.

Previous owner had painted the kitchen & dark little hall a light robin egg blue. Kitchen has one north window.

It's a cheery little room and what caught my eye when looking at house listings. I like it so much that I'll replicate her color choice when it is time to repaint.
