No, terrible idea! We looked at a house that had one and we would have reduced our offer, because we would have had to spent money to rebuild and block it off from the master bedroom side.

We had a FP in one of our homes in the bedroom I used it once . I think if you are worried now it will become more of an issue living with it . I would like to see the space you are working with . I rarely think installing a real FP for looks is a good idea, get 2 nice electric ones put one in each space IMO.

You can put an opaque fireplace screen in front of it when needed. Keep down the noise, though.

Agree with Verbo. You do not want a see-through fireplace between the LR and your bedroom.

Are you building a chimney too? It’s a big task if it needs to vent. You can get nice electric ones that have ——- remote control so you don’t even have to get out of bed!!!

I wish I had a dollar for every person I knew who had a double-sided fireplace between the bedroom and the bathroom and never used it after the first week.

Select two very good electric fireplaces and install one in each room.

I want to do the same thing but have the same heasitancy. I would need a good privacy shield on the bedroom side....i wanted to do open/indirect vent becue direct vent is too modern/too hot

I found this post because we have a see through fireplace between our bedroom and the master bathroom. I hate it because light shines straight through whenever my husband is up early or home late. I am trying to figure out a way to safely screen out the light when it is not in use. Also, I find fireplaces in bedrooms make it too hot to sleep.
