Time to replace this siding?

I really like this board and batten siding, but not fond of the color. Previous owners painting it but the siding itself looks like it’s deteriorating. Worth painting or do I need to bite the bullet and get vinyl siding?

This is not board and batten siding, it's T1-11 fancy exterior plywood.

They actually call that Reverse Board and Baton T1-11, essentially plywood. You could paint it and get a couple more years out of it and as far as replacing it with vinyl, would need to see the whole house elevation to tell if that would be appropriate for the house style.

I’m not sure vinyl siding is the best look necessarily, but I just want something maintenance free
