Can't see your furniture floor plan but I would suggest an area rug 8' x 10' is the usual size. Karemore55 has some good ideas for the wall

The TV is on the only solid wall. On the other three walls, is a built-in bookshelf, a brick wall with see thru to the kitchen. The third wall is French doors to the sun room. Was thinking about plant or large vases on the floor.

Yes, you need a "heavier" looking piece to put your tv on as suggested. Maybe look for a thrift store find and pain if you are handy. Is that a coffee table/trunk you could perhaps use. Only problem with that, no place for equipment. Me thinks some kind of cabinet would be best.

I hope I have your layout right - would it be possible to turn your sofa so it faces the TV? It appears to be facing the non- fireplace right now, or am I all mixed up? If the room is wide enough to have it this way with 3' to walk beside it on fireplace side, and 2' on other side for an end table (so you need at least 12' - more is better), I would then move the arm chair to the corner to the left of the TV (when facing it). Not beside, but slightly in front. Your rug should form the conversation area, and the front legs of the sofa and arm chair should be on it. You could then move that small bookcase over to the right of the TV to fill in that side of the wall. Will this work for you, or do I have things all backwards?

Agree with Angel18432, it would be nice to de-tech the TV, mitigate its presence a bit.

Kameron55, it's actually a real fireplace. I is a insert installed in it, which we do not use, it will be removed soon. It was there when we purchased the house a couple years ago.
