You could do a multi-panel wainscot that is a bit more formal than board and batten, but is a little more interesting than traditional wainscot:

I would not do either in the entry a really beautiful entry table with a fab picece of art is all you need and in the DR some awesome wallpaper for sure maybe more textured than print so then you could still hang art on that wall.

Agreed, neither look right for your house.

The original plan is to do wall paper above the wainscoting and have a bug custom mirror hanging … the wall is really high and to leave it just painted doesn’t do much for the space

this is the style i fell in love with but im second guessing now we would also line the interior of the archway in tbe woodwork as well

Rethink the big custom mirror in a dining room…too distracting…no one wants to watch everyone chewing food or having everyone checking themselves in the mirror or duplicating the mess after the meal. If you really want some reflection/sparkle, do that with your tablescape or with a sunburst with small mirror in the center or metallic gilding on framed artwork or a wallpaper with some metallic touches.

Agree with Susan unless the mirror is high enough that you don’t see yourself when seated.

Mirrors should reflect something of interest or something worth repeating.

Either could be a nice accent for the foyer but IMO it has to appear somewhere else. Maybe half height in the dining room.
