Another alternative would be a snake skin pattern on the wire.

I'd ask the electrician who ran the wire to begin with.

My first suggestion would be to run wire in a more direct route to the plug, which, if the cabinet is against a wall, would be through the wall studs. Another option may simply be installing a junction box. It really depends on what the electrical code is in your area and an electrician would/should be the expert on that.

Problem solved.

Have your electrician disconnect the pictured Romex, connect an end toBX Armored Cable, pull it through, and reconnect. Now it will pass.

I don't think you can use a slip-on conduit and by the time you disconnect the wire and repull it, it is probably easier to build a box. It would also cover the ugly holes and overall look better than a conduit.
