I think sea salt is very calming and beautiful in your room. Is that the vibe you are going for or do you want something more slick and contemporary? I would update all of your lighting and curtains and beside that I think you are good to go.

Love these responses and suggestions! Please keep them coming. The ceilings are 8 foot so I feel a bit limited on ceiling lighting. I definitely want some new curvy lamps, pillows (love the booster idea) and have some spots where I can place some wall art. I’ve liked the sea salt but it feels a bit off with this bed for some reason. I think I want the room to be a little bit more grown up / sexier but still calming / serene? Lol.

It may feel “off” because there is little contrast except for you wood furniture, which lends an oriental vibe with warm colors. So you have warm (wood) and cool (paint, bed, bedding, lamps). I am sure out design experts can offer great suggestions to marry your furniture and produce the romantic look you seek, including lighting, window coverings, and area rug.

I think going with a darker green/blue paint color would look fab, especially as a backdrop to your wonderful armoire.

One idea is BM Aegean Teal. I’d definitely paint all trim work with it, too, like in the room below (note: I don’t know this wall color, just showing trim and walls the same). Everything one color is a very sophisticated look.

I used Jan’s gorgeous chinoiserie paper as framed panels … here with Aegean Teal, a beautiful Kaleen wool rug, and a flush mount light fixture. You said you want calm/serene, so I stayed with similar colors and a more monochromatic look. But with a rug like this, you could bring in more color with textiles and other elements if you’d like.

After a paint and rug decision, and seeing how your laquered nightstands look, I’d move on to lamps, bedding, curtains, maybe a bench, etc.

Depending on your budget, I would consider purchasing new night stands in a "Bachelor Chest Size". The current ones are undersized for the new bed. Great lamps and definitely a bench with some flare at the foot of the bed. I also think you could do a interesting wall treatment on the wall behind the bed. I'll check out some ideas for you. Most of your ideabook photos are light and white, but in the bedroom, you can go darker for a more calming effect.

OMG! Don't paint those chests white! They're beautiful! How about going full chinoiserie in the bedroom and putting wallpaper behind the bed in a beautiful pattern/colorway that works with your sea salt walls?

Check RH for this style bedding in your colors, but you might have to have them made. Find a local seamstress/custom sewing provider who can do the tape trim in that sea salt color, or a contrasting color from the wallpaper you choose.

I usually select paint or wall colors last because other elements in your room drive that decision. So I would leave wall color as is. Put investment into night stands (with reference to Asian flare) lamps and mirrors above night stands. Then a simple wood bench at the foot of the bed like this would keep look simple and refined. Two new pillow shams with simple design finishes off total look.

Painted furniture will scratch and wear, so I’d suggest selling if you want white, but the pieces suit your desired chinoiserie injection. To add the sophisticated, transitional look, accessories will easily do that and you’ll have a nice balance.

I’d keep the wall color and add greyish green chinoiserie wallpaper behind bed and some luxurious cushions. Brass mirrors and new lamps will transform your side tables. If wallpaper is too much trouble/costly, the accessories will still do the trick.

Definitely change light to a semi-flush and add table lamps to suit. I’d suggest using brass to tie in with brass on furniture.

If possible, raise the drapery rod and hem drapes so they touch floor slightly. If you can't adjust rod, still try to lengthen. Finally, a bench at end of bed would be a nice touch and style below would work well.

Once bedding, walls, etc are selected, then find complimentary semi flush lighting to work with all the elements. You have a beautiful room to work with and your new bed is fantastic!

I think the room is restful but if you’re looking for something extra, it may well be the lack of interesting higher contrast and perhaps bits of different accent color. Plus repeating bits of the dark armoire color or similar depth.
I think the simple white bedding is lovely , but if you do like or plan to keep the wall color, then you might introduce more color/ pattern in bedding. My main beef is that large comforters ( king that is) , which are available in lots of gorgeous patterns and colors, don’t fit in my washer. So have to take my big puffy comforter to commercial laundry ( I’m not very into duvet covers). Hence I may in future try to use combinations of thinner quilts and blankets. Thankfully they seem to be having a moment with done good options and coordinating colors.

IMO the side chests should not be white. I would recommend a soft grey or greige color. The stark will be too much of a contrast.

There are several beautiful Asian themed and chinoiserie wallpapers at Thibaut.com. The bed wall could be fantastic with the right wallpaper to bring in your Asian furniture. Some specific patterns to look up:

Per suggestions here, I looked at wallpaper and I’m loving this Thibault Katsura print for an accent wall behind the bed. And a larger, white nightstand. (I may put legs on these Dixie campaign chests for now while I shop for other options.) Definitely like the new mirrors and light fixture suggestions. What do y’all think of this approach?

Considering Mist and Emerald. I like Emerald because it seems more vibrant and it mirrors the green outside the window.

Both beautiful. And yes, they give different vibes. Emerald is more striking. Other parts of the room will need to change to make it work (like the paint color.).

LOL....... Well. You can always make a mistake, but you can avoid them if you think through the givens.

In any bedroom, the bed is the "elephant" in the room. For good or otherwise. Assuming the op loves the bed, just bought the bed, no matter how much you love any particular color, or what is outside the window? You're not escaping its high headboard, or the fact that it is gray. Nor are we escaping the carpeting on the floor.

Below, two colors, and no matter HOW much you love the Thibault......? ( yes I checked ) I don't think it's the best option with the bed.

I Think this ( Katsura) will make the bed come off as..........dreary. Not to mention....much harder to blend a wall color in paint.

IT does work........below.The bed is white : ) add darkest green side tables . We don't have all that.

While I'm on here: A word on upholstered beds. Readily available. Often cheap; there's no hardwood involved! Not even that much fabric involved in many cases, unless luxury tufting etc.

However...at any price, low end to high end, they are a commitment. To color especially. Remember that : )

Thibaut - Hill Garden in white and green has grey in the leaves; Treehouse comes in a pretty grey with blues and greens; Asian Scene has grays; Cheng toile has yellow and grey; Daintree in aqua and gray.

The thing I liked about the Thibault Katsura was it seemed less repetitive than many patterns I’ve seen…has a larger repeat. Wish I could find a color way and pattern that seems a bit more like a mural but still with a high end look.
