A great space to decorate. Once you've chosen the rug, you can move to the drapes, which are a bit easier -- we often want plain-colour drapes, and when we know the colour they're not that hard to find. And if we want pattern, at least we know what we're looking for. That is such a help.

You need the rug for your sitting area first. Then we can argue about whether we need one for the dining area or not.

I think the wall color and floor is super. I like the sofa style. Can you clean and fluff up? This rug in front of the sofa would look really nice with your colors. I'd center the sofa with the window and get a new lamp and coffee table. Put an accent chair in the corner facing the couch. Floor to ceiling curtains panels for the window and the room will look great. Curtain panels from Target that are reasonably priced!

Darzy what do you mean by fluff up and clean sofa? Any specifics? You know, I thought about getting some type of cover for it( not sure how to get one to fit because it is a different shape) or have y'all heard of places that re-apolster or re-cover sofas because this one us super comfy! We also have a sofa in a spare room that is pictured below.. Could this be of any use in our space or is it too different of a shape from the other one? This one is short and thick looking. And where to put the chair now? Next to sofa or across from it! Def gonna get a new lamp shade and end table! Maybe even a coffee table?

If the fabric of you "old" sofa is in good shape, I mean just punch the cushions and pillows with your fist to spread the foam. Or, if need be, and there is a zipper in the back, you can cut a pattern into foam and beef up the seat cushion by stuffing the bottom with more foam. For cleaning, carpet cleaners can do upholstery cleaning called "chem-dry" which is almost like dry cleaning and will spruce up the fabric like new.

Good morning astew. I apologise for not responding -- I was out most of yesterday and have just woken to an African spring morning. Bliss. I love the examples Darzy posted above -- the rug makes my knees weak -- and am more than willing to give up my teals and blues to embrace the greens if you like them. I think the combination of those two sofas would be a bit awkward, though they both have a certain softness to their lines. I defer to my more expert fellows in this discussion on that one. Yes on the coffee table, I think, but it depends on what other seating you have and how you place it whether you will really need one. Sometimes side tables do the practical side of the job well. When you get there, you will need bigger art for your wall/s, and to hang it lower than the picture that's on the window wall right now. I suspect you just popped that on an available nail in the wall?

What I think you will need is an attractive TV stand or cabinet. I think an off-white one might work well and the advantage is that you can look for a shape you like in plain pine and then paint it the perfect colour (and finish) for your room. A little relief for the budget :)

So we are getting married in three months and maybe we will get some cute stuff to decorate the walls. If not after this wedding we can afford some art later. The painting is a gift and we just hung it there because we didn't know where to put it! Hahahahahha so is this too small? We thought of getting a little dog saying or framing something else by it?
