Water Softener advice

Hi, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction for a water softener.

I currently have an old Kinetico (15 years old) that is starting to get finicky. I got a quote from Kinetico to replace but it's crazy expensive compared to things I'm seeing on the internet, and I can plumb it in myself.

Problem is my eyes hurt from reading endless information and I still don't feel like I have a good grasp on it.

I have 22 gpg hardness and .075PPM Ferric iron. Lots of TDS, I think it was around 500.

2 people in the house currently but could be a couple more in the future.

Any tips on where to look? Ive heard Fleck 5600 is good, but lot's of companies use their valves. Have also come across discountwaterfilters.com that has mixed reviews, and AFW Filters on amazon.

Looking to spend as much as $2K for a good one.
