Remodeling our bathroom and we found this old pan type material in an our old toilet closet. The material is concrete like and blue. Any idea what this is? Is it safe?

I increased size x2 on my screen then spent close to 3 minutes staring at it. It has no asbestos content but the paint contains lead, sorry.

The only way you will know what it is made out of is to test it, and yes, it would be the paint that y you want to test. It serves no purpose, so probably should be removed.

From the condition it really doesn't look as though you can save it. I'd clean it out and start fresh using all the usual precautions for whatever unknown materials (including those not yet known to be hazardous) you might come across in demoition.

Rather than freaking out over a couple of known, but relatively small, hazards I'd advocate a "universal precautions" approach-- don't create unnecessary dust in the first place if you can avoid it, use appropraite respirators to avoid breathing it in, confine the area to avoid spreading it around, and use first damp methods and then HEPA filtered vacuums to clean it up without dispersing it. Who knows what the next study will reveal to be a serious health threat; just manage all of them by assuming that construction dust is bad for you and avoid creating it and spreading it around.

    How old is the house?

If you don't have it tested, treat it like it's dangerous. And materials that aren't "dangerous" can still be unhealthy when you inhale them. The "universal precautions approach" is a pretty good way to deal with stuff like this.

Great minds think alike IrI. You treat unknown construction materials like I treat unknown visitors at my front door,I open the door and hiss my dog on them (except at Halloween of course). News must travel fast because there haven't been any Jehovah's Witnesses or salespeople ring my bell for years.
