what is this white stuff and how to remove it?

After many weeks of rain, i noticed this white stuff on some of the stones in front of my house. I hosed it down with water but it came back after a few days.

I don't know what it is and how to remove it. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Probably efflorescence--just minerals coming out of the stone. It's more common in newer stone/brick installs because they still have more salts in them, but a really good rain can still get it going on older setups and really pull it out. (And a lot of older stone/brick in CA hasn't really gotten THAT wet before and are still getting efflorescence.) (Not that you're in CA!)(Not that you aren't!)

Are you in CA by any chance? Everybody has the fuzzies in CA right now.

Once they dry out thoroughly it should stop. You can sweep it off or even hose it off.

Yes. i'm in CA and it's been drenched good for a few weeks with rain. This stone has been around for 20 years now and I've never seen this white stuff on it before. It's only on a few stones so that's the good thing. I'll leave it alone then. Thanks
