Ugly wires and messy cables help

Dear Houzz, the wires on the wall, and over the top of the house - is there anyway to make them neater/disappear/less messy? My GC says he has no solutions. Should I call the electric company - do you have any suggestions??

Sorry, but the electric company won't do anything. It looks fairly workmanlike, and the loops are probably intentional for strain relief. They're not going to fix something that's properly installed. Just be glad you don't live in India or Brazil:

Or be glad you don't live in Philadelphia, which looks like an ever so slightly more tame version of India or Brazil! No way would a utility company come out to tidy the lines.

What do the backs of your neighbors' homes look like? Do any of them have neater wires than yours?

You can have them all installed underground. I was very happy when I pulled the service cable and various Telco and cable wires off my house. A new pole was required at the road.

The loops are to stop water from running down the wires and entering. its called a drip loop and its normal.

There is no way a power company will allow you to run anything underground that requires access . I have ton of wires going past my house and until the towm and the power comapny come to some agreement the wires will stay. I agree the loops serve a purpose . BTEW apic of the whole house would be nice to see exactly where these are . Post the pic here in comment do not stary another post.

Patricia, were not a third world country (yet). Entire subdivisions have power, phone and cable run underground, and many houses (like mine) have utilities underground from the road to the house.

I live in Manhattan and all of our power lines are under ground. I dont think Patricia was saying it cant be done, I presume she was saying one individual cannot choose to do so. It has to be a neighborhood or citywide endeavor.

In my region of rural NY, all the wires are on poles along the roads. When I had my house built, the POCO installed one pole with a transformer on it across the street from the existing poles, then ran the wires from that transformer down the pole and about 100 feet to my meter stand. The GC then ran the wires from the meter stand about 200 feet underground to and through the foundation wall to the location inside the basement where the load center was located.
