Laundry Room Plumbing Design Dilemma

Cement Utility sink House built in 1956

I need to replace the drain, flange and ptrap. Hoping to be able to get the drain out with a Drain Removal Wrench. Now if I mess up the hole, can I just go with a slightly bigger drain and epoxy around it, Any suggestions?

After this is done, what product can I use to smooth out the bottom of the sink? Any help is appreciated. Thank You You

I sure do miss my concrete utility sink, and it was a double! We replaced it with a cabinet sink base with storage and a nice single utility sink, but that concrete utility sink was the best. Cleaned boots, Christmas tree stands, anything but laundry, but I could put a dishpan in it for any washing that needed a cleaner surface. Sorry, I don’t know if you can smoothe out that surface. I sure hope you can.

Why are trying to save it ? There are great light weight utility sinks available maybe take that one and use it outside for fun if saving it is a big deal.

I also have one of those in my 1956 house. It’s not connected any more. It weighs about a million pounds. 😀

Love that you are trying to save this sink. I don't know the answer to your questions but I'd do a This Old House search on youtube and see if you can find the answer. They have a lot of great pluming videos related to old drain removal.

I believe that sink has given up its best years. Buy a sink that can be cleaned.
