A scale floorplan with measurements would help. One that is large when clicked on.

Id turn that wall into a 9.5 wide laundry closet with doors that close. Water proof the space as though you were building a walkin shower. We had a second floor laundry in an old house and it leaked 3 times. so, have you considered the noise factor in the surrounding rooms?

I actually do not like laundry on an upper floor IMO just as bad as in the basement. I spend the better part of my day on the main floor so I love my main floor laundry. One trip with the dirty and one trip at the end of the day with the clean . No up and down the stairs 2 x for every load. Waht was the plan in the addition all of this needed to be panned way before the build .

I will scale a plan a little later today so it’s not so confusing and I will also see kind of state where the laundry is above the rest of the house I’m not super concerned with the sound. This is more about not having to drag laundry downstairs, because essentially all of the bedrooms upstairs are for kids, it’s not my main laundry but also keep in mind this house does not have a lot of closet space so I figured maybe I could incorporate closet with a laundry room
