I looked at the fixture I posted today in person and don’t think it’s right for the space.
I’d like something wider but not something that looks medieval or farmhouse.

It’s hard to decide…

Unfortunately because the chain/plate is anchored on a beam I think I need something with a single chain, or Rod, not double.

Also, would a mcm-leaning linear chandelier look okay here?

I like the lantern ish ones, but they either read too farmhouse or like someone will cut the chain with a sword to kill his enemy below…

I think BeverlyFLADeziner is right that a linear fixture would best fit your space and the open lantern style you mentioned liking would also keep from obscuring the amazing sight lines you have that face your amazing windows! the power is coming from else where, the double hung plate can be fixed to the beam the way you have the current plate attached.

@RL about the beam—it goes opposite from the dining table. So I wouldn’t be able to hang a double rod fixture that way.

Imagine another rod next to the one in the photo here…light would be perpendicular to table top.

Those are cool! It’s hard to tell from the pictures if they’re round or linear/elongated? The lights Beverly posted are elongated, which I think would span the central length of the table really beautifully and repeat the horizontal lines of the windows. Hung at the right height, sight lines could be kept more clear and your view out the windows less obstructed than if you went with a large round light. Your room is gorgeous!

They came up when I searched for linear.

In order for the light to connect to the dining table, I think it will feel off if too low in the overall space. My priority would be to create balance with the right size, create a soft and airy feel with a long multi-glassed style.

I don’t really like anything with shades or anything lantern-ish for this particular room.

I was looking for sort of linear modern or linear Sputnik, but not sure if it would look right…

Also, our current fixture is wayyy too high and dim so we definitely need to hang the new one lower.

I think the satin nickel light you posted is probably the best option.

The last ones you posted, OP, look nice. Again, you couldn’t mount anything with a large canopy (as Maureen is showing) on your beam, but you know that😉. Just make sure your light fixture is large enough….many err on the small side. And yes, definitely hang the new fixture much lower! Since your box is in another location and your ceiling is high you might need extra chain and wire lengths…..measure all that before you order!
