Old Rose Perfumes - can you still get them?

Empress Alexandra of Russia loved Atkinson's white rose. I have a vial of red Damask Rose from Bulgaria and another of Heyoka "White Rose" from the same Valley of the Roses.

Alexandra used to carry a traveling silk pillow stuffed with rose petals which she took on the Imperial Train and their yacht, the Standardt. I have seen it, it was covered with silk and gold embroidery including her monogram and an Imperial crown. The pillow went to Siberia with her and was found in the Ipatiev House in Yekaterinburg after the murder of the family. It was sold for $7,000 ten years ago.

Yardley's used to make a rose scented hard soap but I haven't seen it in ages.

I have found a very fragrant, long lasting rose soap in my favorite small oriental grocery store alongside the sandlewood hard soap.

Recently I found a rose soap from the same company in Germany that still manufactures 4711 echte kolnish wasser.

The rose scented water at that same oriental grocery store has only a limited life even when refrigerated, but when first opened is wonderful.

None of these are perfumes.

There used to be a custom perfume company in the French Quarter in NOLA, one of their owners died and We've been gone from there for two decades. Hove still is there although they moved from their earlier store; friends have been going there for decades.
