Emtek satin brass finish - looks different on different pulls!

Hi,

curious what you all think, especially if you own these pulls - I got samples of the Westridge and Alexander pulls, both Emtek, both Satin brass. The finish is TOTALLY different. It's completely matte and brushed on the Westridge (on left) and shinier and polished on Alexander (on right).

I would inquire with the distributor you purchased them from as they are quite obviously different finishes.

They have 2 different names for a reason they are different what is your question?

@Patricia Colwell Consulting - my question, stated above, is that the finish for BOTH is satin brass yet they look totally different. Why?

@millworkman thank you. What's puzzling is that each pull only has ONE choice for brass, so it's not like I was given polished vs. satin.

Different factories/ subcontractors but at the Emtek level you would think they would have it more standardized...

Different manufacturers don't necessarily have the exact same finish (and colour) even though they have the same product name. Buy the one you prefer all from the same supplier so they will all be the same finish.

Emtek confirmed that this is an error and that the "correct" finish the more brushed look on the left - a disappointment because I prefer the other finish, but on the shape of the left pull! oh well.

Emtek has a satin brass that is genuine brushed/satin brass, and another satin brass that is an applied "brass" finish on stainless steel. (Not sure if it's painted, or plated or what exactly.) They do not look the same. Extremely stupid and confusing that the same exact finish name and code were ever assigned to the two... recently it looks like they started calling one of them Satin Brass - Stainless Steel. Prior to this there was no way to distinguish them without talking to a rep/investigating the actual pull material, or looking at a catalog, which divides their product lines.

@Lindsay Baker Interior Design for the cabinet hardware here is a trick to help. If the pull is offered in Unlacquered Brass then you know that the pull material is brass. If it is not offered in Unlacquered Brass then it's not brass.
