Received Shirley ty, sorry for the late response we have been dealing with active wildfire Croatan national forest since last Wednesday it burned 35000 acres in less than 24 hours it’s only 30% contained right now. It was raining ash last Friday and Saturday on everything and the air quality was so bad you could not go outside. I have medical issues and it has been a struggle to breath well but thankful for the rain today and Sunday should help some. The fire is within 2-3 miles of our properties but it has been since it started they are making progress so hopefully they get it contained and keep it on forest land and it doesn’t jump to residential.

Storms here again today. I did get my tomato plants transplanted yesterday. Also got some basil and flower seeds sown. I'm so behind on garden/yard stuff.

Today was the monthly Roll Call Veterans luncheon. Instead of the usual location it was in a hanger at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth. We had hundreds of people there. Not sure of number but I think they were expecting around 800. We had World War II veterans all the way to active duty.

Yes, unfortunately they have not covered the fire much on the news I assume it is for panic reasons but they now have a designated website and update us daily on the county website and nc forest site. Not sure how the weather is going to be today with the smoke in the air, if ok I plan to try and get outside some.

The ripping off of mail and packages has gotten really bad out here. Is it an issue where you both live? The stealing from stores stores like TJ MAXX is over the top. Purse/wallet stealing is huge at the Trader Joes in my area.
