Heres the front

As noted probably an alarm system.

It falls out because your outlets are worn out and need to be replaced.

I would probably consult an electrician before assuming anything electrical is dead before “cuttung”.

Well, to be fair, its low voltage and if its not plugged in, its dead.

I woukd address the outlets if plugs fall out though.

Falling out is probably not dangerous but the missing cover plate and dangling wire are.

The SEC 9vac... part of the labeling means 9 volts AC, not a typical doorbell voltage.

A transformer of that size uses a few watts, may be warm to the touch, and is a waste of electricity if not currently powering anything.

Hi Folks, Smile for the day. Look at the third picture down and read the writing on the cord.

If you can find the other end of the wire and disconnect it from any device it's attached to, you could try pulling the wire out of the wall from this end or the other end (after disconnecting the wire from the transformer). If not, you could just cut the wire at this end. In either case, you can then just replace the outlet cover* and dispose of the transformer.

*If plugs fall out of that outlet, you could replace it.
