I like a traditional/ modern kitchen. we have done so much painting in here but now it looks a little boring. Any suggestions?

It's a really very nice space. Maybe higher backed chairs?

I would be tempted to put 2 large demilune planters or neoclassical flute-y wall pockets on either side of the window and do some vines.

My guess is that you replaced your counters and then painted the room white, trying to tone down the early 2000's Tuscan effect? The problem is the floor is unchanged and it is fighting the whites. You need to warm up the wall color. What is on there now? If the floor is staying and you like color, look at greens. I used BM Camouflage in my last house that had a similar kitchen floor. It looks more green on the wall than on the chip, but it isn't an overbearing green. If you want a neutral but want to stay away from the early aughts colors, look at BM Edgecomb Gray. It's as beige as it is gray, but the gray tones down the yellow. I don't know if it will really look right with the floor, but it's something to try. SW has Accessible Beige which is similar, and both brands have other warm off whites you can try. Roman shades instead of blinds are an opportunity to introduce some color also.

Also, paint is no substitute for personality -- bring some of you into the room! Some little prints on the wall or even potholders that you like. A colorful runner on the table. A painted bowl of fruit on the end of the counter. I mean, we're not seeing the whole space, but it's often the art, accessories, and rugs that bring a room like this to life.

I’m filling my kitchen walls with spice racks, measuring cups, stainless utensils, trivets, spoon rests, shallow wall cabinets for mugs, anything that I want to grab when cooking. On the island, there is a knife block and a pair of enameled dutch ovens.

I would never have done this with my open concept kitchen!

You can make all those things look beautiful and intentionally designed using a color scheme. Even specialty bakeware hanging on the wall somehow could be beautiful. Or pots and pans. They can look clean and sparkly - they don’t have to look well-loved unless you want them to. You could add floating shelves with decorative or useful dishes, in white or a color. You could add flowers or greenery in wall vases or standing vases. You can display whimsical and colorful dish towels.

Or art. Or cutting boards. Or fun appliances. There are so many ways to make a kitchen interesting. I would start with functional pieces that you like to look at.

I dont think your space needs repainting as its a pretty room i think it just needs some accessories to liven up the space. Beautiful sconces on either side of the arch window would look good. i like the greenery but i think it needs something a little bigger - a vase with floral arrangement in center of table to help pull the eye up. Instead of blinds you could do woven bamboo shades or something with texture. id also suggest moving the table in front of the window to a new home. It doesnt seem to fit well there. You could also bring in two upholstered dining chairs that could pull in some color too. Just some thoughts

arch of window is a big feature. I'd play it up.

these are actual kitchen cabs but you could do a shelf either side or smaller cab for display. It keeps the focus right where you have a terrific thing going on in the room.

this is fabric working w the window shape and you have a lot of glass so getting help to do custom treatments would be a nice thing for the space.

maybe invest in a collection of not-boring tablecloths

I have to say I love this $15 oilcloth from Target

I don’t think you need a lot, but decorating would help. Art on the walls flanking the window would help. Chairs seem too small scaled for the area.

Art on the walls, window treatments (not on the arched window, though) and an area rug. It's really all you need.

I second/third/fourth the suggestions for color, specifically through window treatments, rug (washable ruggable rugs come in colors and patterns for any style preference), tablecloth, and some pretty art- preferably all of those things in a color(s) that makes you happy!

Incidentally, @mytwo cents I just got that yellow striped tablecloth from Target and I love it! Its not as thick as a real oilcloth tablecloth, but the color, style, and price were right for a cheap birthday present to myself!

    "Not acceptable" your light fixture

    NEVER tablecloths.

    Placemats?

I know some decorators don't listen to other people. Apparently many don't even listen to themselves talk.

The ceiling fan is too high above the table so it is throwing off the room’s visual proportions. The kitchen table cries out for a chandelier - the width about 12” less than the table width, and the height 3 times the ceiling height (3 x 9ft ceiling is 27” tall chandelier, 3 x 10ft is 30” tall, etc) and enough chain so the bottom of the chandelier is about 36” over the table.

If you want to paint, even a pale color below the chair rail will make the tall ceilings and arch window feel even grander!

I personally like mixing contemporary chairs with traditional and country style tables. You could change up your table or just change out the chairs. I like the green in Beverly’s suggestions and the chandelier choi so here’s some pics for furniture to go along with that. Of course if you didn’t like the green you could go with another color. You could also go with a round or oval table in your space.

I think you may be hiding an incredible focal point behind those blinds. What is the view like when the blinds are open? If the blinds are hiding something you’d rather not see, I might still change the window treatments that expose as much of the tree as possible, such as cafe curtains.
