There are so many fab MCM rugs why something so boring ? IMO first you get the furniture then you get the rug and I have no idea how that size rug will work in that room . A verty plain rug like wht your oredered will show every little thing too and with kids those little things happen

I agree. Cancel that rug. Pick your furniture first

@AKS Services, LLC thanks for the direction. We may not reupholster the MCM sofa until next year, and need a rug (or 2) for now, at least that was our thinking.

Coffee table will probably be replaced later this year.

The other furniture (couch against the wall, and other MCM furniture) is staying.

The rug should come last, as you may decide on a larger size or different feel (given you are reupholstering and that's a harder decision). Suggest looking at on line rooms and try searching Modern (or Warm) Organic for the earthy/calm look you want. @carolb yes, similar, but that current rug is more blue.

Jute is hard wearing, but will hold onto stains. Probably not a great choice. Look into seagrass if you want a natural fiber. I love mine and it’s basically bulletproof stain and dirt wise. Both were a requirement as I’ve found rugs only look good a couple of years and are ridiculously $$$ to clean. Real hand knotted oriental rugs are an exception and are worth cleaning.

I'm not a fan of those colors in your space. They don't really look all that natural or neutral to me. I'd canel the order.
