@Unique Wood Floors yeah I like Mirage floors and ordered a few free samples. Spoke with my rep at Abbey Flooring and he can get it but very expensive. If it lasts and is durable and good warranty support then worth it. I wanted to go with Uptown Flooring out of Florida but they do not sell to distributors. Mohawk, Johnson Hardware and Somerset all had bad reviews and Hallmark is made in CHINA.

I installed Mirage. After five years they still look very good even in the kitchen.

As posted they are Canadian and they are a "green" company in terms of their forest practicies as well as their manufacturing.

Mine are light oak in the Select & Better grade which has a quiet look. Mine are red oak - I had considered white oak but I have a lot of white oak in my home - vanities, cabinets, wall unit, room divider so I thought the contrast was better. Mine are very non-trendy as I wanted them to be the background as I have some very decorative area rugs.

Mirage is the most but I want long lasting quality floors so will go with it!

What floors are you getting?

Curious as to how much they are a square foot now as I bought mine prior to the pandemic

FWIW, the installation of the floors was more pre square foot than the wood itself as I needed self leveling; a layer of cork, a layer of playwood PLUS all of the adhesive or whatever for it.

I like some of the red oak choices from Mirage. It is more expensive than the other brands so hopefully worth it!

Lauzon gets nice reviews as well.

I would use Lauzon, instead of Mirage. The millwork from Mirage isn't top notch for their pricing.

For kitchen having DALTILE Florentine Marfil installed and so far big improvement over the original Allure crap vinyl flooring and so far coming out nicely!

Sure I do, but they're not getting any special pricing unless the square footage exceeds 2,500. Why go through distributors anyway? Then it goes to a dealer and the final price is higher when it's all said and done.

@Uptown Floors, I already signed a contract with Abbey Flooring to do the work. Next time I do flooring in future, then I will contact you directly. Looking at Mirage and Lauzon for engineered hardwood options right now.

Not sure what market you are in? Mirage has gone direct to dealers in our Midwest market recently. I agree with Uptown Floors. Why going through distribution for higher price and lower service? Higer-end wood floor brands need to be sold and installed by wood specialty stores. Most distributors are not equipped to handle wood floor claims and complaints timely and efficiently.

@Unique Wood Floors well I am in northern California and signed contract with Abbey Flooring. So too late to cancel!!!! Anyays we can get Lauzon and Mirage no problem but no luck getting Uptown Floors my rep Spike called already and tried.

@kay Tee, that is hard to say as mine is custom mix of tile and engineered hardwood and I am using high end premium brands. For 1500 square foot of premium high end tile and engineered hardwood the labor and materials run between 15-35k from what I can tell. Abbey is not the least expensive but they include cost of removal, labor, materials including glue/finish that a lot of contractors leave out and nickel and dime you. SO for me all in one pricing helps budget. It can be less or more based on various factors. I had several other contractors tell me 17k with no real breakdown and no good choices to use the engineered hardwood and tile of my choice.

@Kay Tee and everything way expensive now due to massive inflation compared to only a few years ago!

Compared samples today from Mirage, Lauzon, Somerset, and Capella. All very nice! It really comes down to price per foot. That said, Mirage has an 8+ week lead time to order woods. Mirage also the most expensive cost I think as well. The red oak and hickory woods look amazing.

@ Renaissance Man, thank you so much for the break down. we have almost 1400 sq ft area we are planning on putting engineered wood. we did visit Abbey flooring and were not impressed with what they had in the store. we found LM flooring at one of our local store and are considering them. Any comments on LM fooring.

@Kb Dee yeah you need to do your home work and research. Abbey can do higher tier flooring like Mirage and Lauzon. But for small custom high end hardwood like Uptown and Purezzawood you need to buy direct and hire your own flooring installer. Abbey does good work. They did a great job on my new kitchen tile. But most of the engineered wood brands thet carry are lower tier levels. I had to request better tier brands. For example, I compared Lauzon and Mirage to Somerset, Mohawk, Johnson and Hallmark. Lauzon and Mirage win easily. Capella is not bad.

@Kb Dee, sorry I know nothing about them and did not see them as highly rated online in my search. Check Yelp, Houzz abd Angi list maybe google too.

@Kb Dee thank you as well. I have the Mirage samples and they look very nice as do the Lauzon and Capella floors. Mirage seems like best thickness or materials of all samples so far from these vendors between Lauzon, Somerset, Capella and so forth.

I was able to find a post on LM flooring on HOUZZ discussion forums.

  3 years agoLM is the brand. I live in Texas also. I bought mine at a local floor shop. I have them in the kitchen, living area, halls, and utility room with no problems so far. We also have a dog. They're 3/4" thickness with aluminum oxide finish. LM has a lot to choose from as far as plank size and finishes. Look up LM Flooring. They have good reviews and also a good warranty. I have a great floor guy and he said they were good quality floors. I've also had other engineered hardwood floors that peeled like a layer of plastic when they scratched like you said above."

I think Lauzon is my style from comparing samples from both companies Mirage vs Lauzon.
