I'm not a fan of this product as a current whole house choice. 5 inches is an old solid flooring maximum width. Engineered flooring is mostly available beginning at 7 inches wide going to 12 inches to make use of the construction to show the beauty of full width board flooring. Second, this uses domestic white oak with its open grain structure. The grain finishes dark. A whitewash partially opaque finish is used to fill and hide that problem. Third is the core of softwood with only a 3mm hardwood veneer. Dents can be a problem. If none of these bother you and only the color and tone are what you'd like to tie down, the usual recommendation is to order a box. Lay out the entire box in your space to see what you'll get.

The main reason I want to use Kahrs is they are made in Sweden or Porland and don’t use bad chemicals. Not many choices.

To sample any floor ? The "sample" needs to be one full box of the flooring. It's really the only way to get a full view in your home and it is worth the time and money. Lay them out...and decide

As to wider than 5"/ 7"? I think completely unnecessary,

Yes it's only .50 but it's been holding up remarkably well. Kahrs is a quality product.

@cpartist Thank you for your sharing, good to know it's still holding up well. Hope someone out there has Oak Reiter, I want to see if it has a lot of knots. maybe I order one box to test it as others suggested.

@dan1888 Those floors you suggested are beautiful color. Where are they made? I know many years ago there are issues and concerns about the glue used in engineered floors made in China. Ever since then I have stayed away from imported products. Even though many of them have added the label showing they meet certain compliance, I have not seen the proof of change in actual manufacturing process.

Order a box to see yourself. That is the only way.

Some of the Monarch offerings are made in Indonesia. Some are finished with Bona products. The pictured rustic and prime are unfinished French Oak. I don't know the origin. To get that color I'd use ultra matte Blanchon Intensiv. The last picture is finished Flooret Silvan European Oak made in Sweden.

I have decided on Kahrs Canvas collection; but still cannot commit to a color and don't know how to decide. Oak Tapa, Oak Fawn, and Oak Reiter. I know color is a personal decision, but which one would you pick? Has anyone seen the installed floor or had a real installed picture?

@cpartist i tried to order a box of oak Tapa, but it’s in shortage and is not available in US right now. is your floor similar to Oak Tapa?

Similar but not the same as mine is a hair darker and redder.

The Tapa would be my first choice of the three you showed because it's the most natural. The other two are too gray. You can never go wrong by keeping a floor more natural in color as it will stand the test of time.
